Our main focus for the past year was to give our website a, new look, work on marketing strategies and collaborate, and network with other like-minded organizations with the, same passions and objectives as ours., The global economic downturn, coupled with the fact that, South Africa is, like so many other countries, making a very, slow recovery from the recession made us realize that we, simply cannot rely solely on donor funding as a means of survival. No NGO can survive without sponsorship and we had, to take a serious look at different avenues to generate additional, income for the sustainability of Sibusisiwe. Thus, we have worked hard at focusing on steps that need, to be in place for us to thrive in today’s economy. The seeds, planted in previous years have now started to take root and, next year we will begin to see the harvest, so watch this, space. As I write this, there are already exciting developments, taking place…

On 27 February 2010 our current and new supporters went all out at a Sibu Fundraiser event held at Kanu Wine Estate in Stellenbosch.
The evening kicked off with drinks and snacks on the patio overlooking the majestic Stellenbosch Mountains where after we were entertained by the up and coming and highly talented HEAVENLY QUARTEZ.
Kanu dished up an amazing three course meal and Daniel gave a presentation of Sibu’s projects and our plans for the future. We trust that his talk inspired some of our guests to become more involved in our efforts to make a difference in our communities.
The highlight of the evening was the wine auction, presided over by Mr Louw Venter(ex-Survivor South Africa contestant). With the auction we raised a massive amount of R 45900,00! We have a few candidates on the waiting list for our economic development program who will make good use of some of these funds.
With the formalities dealt with, our guests kicked off their shoes and danced the night away (until we were politely requested by the Kanu staff to please vacate the premises at around 2am!).
Thank you to all who made a contribution to this hugely successful evening. Keep an eye on our website and blogs for updated information about our projects and some exciting new developments to follow.

We hope to see you again next year!
